At East Ayrshire Leisure we care for many thousands of objects within the East Ayrshire collections from Fine and Decorative Art to Zoology and Local & Social History. Some of these objects represent the best of their type, such as Ayrshire Needlework, Mauchline Ware, and Cumnock Pottery.
Dumfries and Galloway Culture aims to to provide enjoyment and increase appreciation of the unique heritage of Dumfries and Galloway through the care of and access to local collections for the widest possible audience.
The Museums and Galleries Service is part of South Ayrshire Council’s Department of Education Culture and Lifelong Learning. The service is based at Rozelle House Galleries in Alloway. Alongside Rozelle House are the Maclaurin Galleries. The Maclaurin Galleries are leased by the Maclaurin Trust and operated by the Trust in partnership with South Ayrshire Council. The Council’s Museums and Galleries Service also currently operates the McKechnie Institute in Girvan.
The Harbour Arts Centre (HAC), situated on the picturesque Irvine Harbourside in North Ayrshire, was re-opened in 2006 following major refurbishment funded by the National Lottery and North Ayrshire Council. The HAC is the cultural hub of North Ayrshire providing quality exhibitions, art & drama classes, theatre, comedy, live music, special events and much more.
Set within the magnificent grounds of Rozelle Park, the Maclaurin Galleries house one of the nation’s finest collections of classic and contemporary arts and crafts. Our highly-renowned exhibition programme offers visitors a rare chance to enjoy diverse works from local, national and internally acclaimed artists.
Museum of Lead Mining The Visitor Centre is situated in the heart of the village of Wanlockhead, which is Scotland's highest Village at 1531 ft./468.08 m. above sea level. The Visitor Centre was once the Village Smiddy and the top image on the left shows the interior of the blacksmith's workshop when it was still in operation.
