Silver encrusted arming sword made in Germany. The hilt is chiselled with foliate designs and the fingerloops extend on to the ricasso of theb blade. The blade features the mark of the 'Passau wolf'. This mark on cut and thrust weapons originated in Passau, Germany, and later came to Solingen, where the running wolf design also became known as a 'Solingen mark'.
The arming sword has a robust, sharply pointed blade would have easily cut and overpowered opponents on the field of battle and would have effectively been able to attack mail and bash plate armour.
