Menshies - Comic Book Blast Off

It tells the story of a group of local kids who, through a series of strange events one dark night as they hang around outside the Dick in Kilmarnock, realise how leaving their mark, of 'menshie' on the building can have unexpected and terrible consequences...

The Big Draw 2006

Every year the Big Draw is co-ordinated by the Campaign for Drawing and encourages people of all ages to have a go at drawing – but maybe not always in the conventional way. There will be opportunities for everyone to try something new with Big Draw activities at Dumfries Museum and Gracefield Arts Centre throughout the October school break.

Smugglers Ahoy at Dumfries Museum

The Solway smugglers of olden days are described in the Dumfries Museum’s latest exhibition created by historian Frances Wilkins. A cargo of activities are planned for the October school holidays exploring smuggling and the work of the excisemen in the time of Robert Burns. Lots of fun new quizzes, challenges and activities.

National Knitting Week at Dumfries Museum

If there is one week in the year that will inspire a new generation of knitters, it's got to be National Knitting Week! Knitting needles will be clacking all over Britain and the Click Talk knitting and crochet group are inviting folks to drop in to Dumfries Museum on Tuesday 17 October any time between 2pm and 6pm.

1960s Exhibition at McKechnie Institute

Now open at the McKechnie Institute in Girvan is an exhibition that will bring back many memories! Covering fashion, music, toys, transport and, of course, events this exhibition has something for everyone. The exhibition runs until the 25th of November.

The McKechnie is open Tue, Thur, Fri 1 - 4pm; Wed 1.30 - 4.30pm; Sat 10.30am - 4pm

El Dorado and The Legacy

The first Future Museum touring exhibition is now open at Rozelle House Galleries, Ayr. El Dorado, the story of quarrying and mining in south west Scotland and the Legacy, illustrating the mark that these have made on the landscape and people of the area, make up this exhibition, at this site until the 16th of December.

How Great Great Grandpa Became a Work of Art

The new exhibition at Stranraer Museum brings together over 150 original small Victorian photographs known as cartes de visites. The exhibition runs until 14 October and admission is free.
