Looking for Golf Treasures...

To Celebrate Homecoming Scotland 2009 and the Open coming to Turnberry for 2009, South Ayrshire Council, Ayrshire Archives and the Maclaurin Galleries are staging a major exhibition on the Open and golf connections in Ayrshire this coming summer. We would like to discover what hidden treasures on this theme may be in the hands of the public.

Rozelle & Maclaurin Galleries Christmas and New Year Closure

Rozelle House and Maclaurin Galleries will be closing at 12 noon on Wednesday 24th December for the Christmas and New Year period. The Galleries will reopen at 10am on Monday 5th January 2009.

Major Refurbishment Plans for Baird

East Ayrshire Council has agreed funds for a major programme of refurbishment to The Baird in Cumnock. The work will bring the Baird up to the same standard as the other museums in East Ayrshire and allow the council to mount adventurous collection-based exhibitions. The building will be closed from the Saturday 6th September to allow the improvements to be carried out.

Geometry of Fear

A Hayward Gallery Touring Exhibition from Southbank Centre, London, on behalf of Arts Council England. Works from the Arts Council England Collection by 14 major British sculptors born between 1913 and 1930, including Henry Moore and Eduardo Paolozzi. Archaeology and the Victorians - The John Murray Archive

To celebrate Scottish Archaeology Month, Nat Edwards, the John Murray Archive Project Manager at the National Library of Scotland, will give a talk at Dumfries Museum on the archive, and the archaeologists whose work it contains.

The talk will take place at 2.30 pm on Saturday 20 September 2008. Admission is free. Booking is not required but as places are limited visitors may prefer to telephone 01387 253374 to reserve one.
