Major Refurbishment Plans for Baird

East Ayrshire Council has agreed funds for a major programme of refurbishment to The Baird in Cumnock. The work will bring the Baird up to the same standard as the other museums in East Ayrshire and allow the council to mount adventurous collection-based exhibitions. The building will be closed from the Saturday 6th September to allow the improvements to be carried out.

Geometry of Fear

A Hayward Gallery Touring Exhibition from Southbank Centre, London, on behalf of Arts Council England. Archaeology and the Victorians - The John Murray Archive

To celebrate Scottish Archaeology Month, Nat Edwards, the John Murray Archive Project Manager at the National Library of Scotland, will give a talk at Dumfries Museum on the archive, and the archaeologists whose work it contains.

The talk will take place at 2.30 pm on Saturday 20 September 2008.  Admission is free. Booking is not required but as places are limited visitors may prefer to telephone 01387 253374 to reserve one.
