Iron Drill Bit and Drilled Wood, Buiston

Iron drill bit and drilled wood, from Buiston crannog, c. AD 550 - 700.   The inhabitants of the Buiston crannog were skilled carpenters. This iron drill bit would be used to bore holes in large timbers. Pegs could then be put in these to fasten the timbers together.
