Iron billet from the Stidriggs Hoard

Weighing 4.2 kilograms this billet represents an advanced stage in the iron smelting process.  The majority of the slag has been removed from the iron and it has been paddled into this shape while slightly molten.  It could easily be transported or traded in this form.  The smith would divide the billet into smaller sections to be worked into objects.
