Military red coat belonging to Lieutenant General Colin MacKenzie

This coat was worn by Lieutenant General Colin MacKenzie, an Annan man, when he was attacked and left for dead in Afghanistan, 21st September 1855.  He survived the attack and on his return home kept his coat, hat and dagger sheath in rememberance and donated to the museum after both he and his wife had died.   Battered and bloody, quilted red jacket with brass buttons and belt with gold thread.
