Boat to Ailsa Craig
This is an image of the Glenfield Ramblers on one of their many expeditions, this time a boat journey to study the seabird colonies on the rock of Ailsa Craig. Known locally as 'Paddy's Milestane', Ailsa Craig is also home to Scotland's only quarry where granite is collected for the purpose of producing curling stones. A massive volcanic plug, the rock is probably the most instantly recognisable landmark off the coast of the south west of Scotland and remains a haven for thousands of seabirds such as gannets which make their home there.
