German Crossbow
This kind of crossbow would have been used for hunting by
sportsmen. Unlike the long bow, the cross bow can be held loaded
for a long period making it ideal for a sportsman lying in wait for
a deer. The lever underneath the tiller is the trigger which
secures the nut holding the string when it is pulled back. This
crossbow is highly decorated indicating that its owner was wealthy.
