Charging Spanner
A charging spanner was used for spanning the lock on firearms with a wheellock firing mechanism. The ornate design of this example suggests that it would have belonged to a wealthy nobleman. There is a ring near the centre through which a ribbon could be passed so that it could be carried around the neck.
