Philadelphia: Peter Stewart and George Hyde, 1788   Binding: brown leather on boards; elaborate tooled gold design on spine and both covers; marbled end-papers; title, date & place in gold on the spine; gold-edged laid paper.   Marks: Embossed "Burns Monument Kilmarnock", on the title page. McKie private library number "12" on the spine.   Comment by James McKie: "This - tho first American edition - a reprint of the Kilmarnock… in a very battered condition from… & Co. London & paid three sovereigns for it!!! JM'Kie"   The books contains a bookmark made from blue ribbon.
