The Kilmarnock Cobbler, by Himself

Hunter worked as both a cobbler and an artist until his mid-thirties when he moved to Glasgow and became a full time portrait painter.   In this quickly done sketch in paint he depicts himself in his role as the cobbler. It is interesting to compare it with another, far more formal self portrait by the artist (See 'Related Items').
