Waterloo Street, Kilmarnock

Attached to the back of this painting is a note hand-written by the artist. It reads; "Painted by me at the suggestion of George Dunlop, Kilmarnock Standard, and purchased by him at Kilmarnock Art Exhibition, December 1902. Andrew Law" The original Kilmarnock Fine Art Exhibition label is also still attached to the painting. It states the sum which Dunlop will have paid for the painting as £10.10. Law painted several versions of Waterloo Street which was where John Wilson, printer of the first edition of Robert Burns's Poems, had his printing office. There are two others in the fine art collection at the Dick Institute.
