Siller gun medal
This medal was awarded to Duncan Wyllie, the winner of the
siller gun competition in July 1902. The shooting competition was
orginally established during a period when burgesses had to be
prepared to defend the town. The last competition occured in 1881
and soon after the Incorporation of Trades ceased to exist.
The competition was revived in 1902 to celebrate the coronation of
Edward VII and is now part of the annual Guid Nychburris
celebrations in June in Dumfries.
