Games have a long history in Europe, with the oldest records of board gaming dating back to the writings of Homer's Iliad in the 8th century BCE. Tabletop gaming includes cards, board games, strategy, and roleplaying games such as Dungeons and Dragons. Tabletop games provide a way for families and friends to play together, and they remain popular despite the  growth in video gaming from the late 1990s.   However, video games have become significantly more popular than tabletop games. Consoles such as the Super Nintendo, the Gameboy, the Xbox series of consoles, and Playstations have occupied children and adults of all ages since their inception. Today, gaming can also be done on the go, with mobile gaming becoming a popular platform.
