Provost's Chain, Burgh of Cumnock and Holmhead

This chain was presented to the burgh by Alexander Gemmell to mark its 50th anniversary in 1916. Gemmell, who became a successful banker in Bradford, was a native of Kilmarnock. The name of each Provost who served between 1866 and 1916 is engraved on the back of the chain.
