Fire Mark (2)
Fire Marks were emblems representing different insurance companies which were attached to buildings to show that the company had insured the building against risk of fire. Early ones were made of lead; later ones were made from tin, copper, zinc or brass. They were first introduced in 1667, just a year after the Great Fire of London, and remained in use for around 250 years.
