Loudoun Kirkyard
Loudoun Kirk, just outside Galston may have been founded as early as the 12th century. It is also the burial place of many locally famous people including the martyred covenanter Thomas Fleming and many of the Earls of Loudoun and their families including John, first Earl Of Loudoun and Lord High Chancellor of Scotland who died in 1652; John, fourth Earl, military Commander of the British Forces in North America, Governor of Virginia and famous agricultural improver, who died in 1782 and the tragic Lady Flora Hastings.
