Stair House
Stair House in a 17th century country house situated near the
village of Stair in East Ayrshire. It was the birthplace of John
Dalrymple, the 1st Earl of Stair, a prominent politician who played
key roles in the suppression of the Jacobite Uprising of 1689 to
1692 and in the arrangement of the 1707 Acts of Union that created
the Kingdom of Great Britain.
