Roslin Castle

The remains of Roslin Castle mostly date the 15th century when it was built for the Sinclar family. This image shows the ruined gatehouse which was destroyed during the Rough Wooing in 1544. The gatehouse was left a ruin, but the main castle was rebuilt and has remained partially habitable since. The castle was renovated in the 1980s and now functions as a tourist attraction and holiday lets.
