Neidpath Castle, Peebles

Neidpath Castle in the Scottish Borders has a history than spans 900 years. The early castle was constructed in the late 12th century by the Frasers, however the castle was soon ruined after the English burned the castle down during the Wars of Independence. The present caastle was likely built around the 14th century for the Hays, who inherited the castle from the Frasers by marriage. Mary Queen of Scots and, later, her son James VI are reputed to have visited the castle during the 16th century.
