Loudoun Castle
This image shows Loudoun Castle, which sits near Galston. It is
the former home of the Mure-Campbell family, and later, through
marriage, the Rawdon-Hastings family. Loudoun Castle was built
between 1804 and 1811 for Lady Flora Mure-Campbell, the Countess of
Loudoun around the remnants of a 15th century tower. The building
was known as 'The Windsor of the North' until 1941 when it was
gutted by a fire.
More recently, it has been the site of Loudoun Castle theme
park. The theme park was set around the ruins of the castle and was
in operation for 15 years between 1995 and 2010.
