Interior of Loudoun Castle

This image shows an interior fireplace at Loudoun Castle, which sits near Galston. It is the former home of the Mure-Campbell family, and later, through marriage, the Rawdon-Hastings family. Loudoun Castle was built between 1804 and 1811 for Lady Flora Mure-Campbell, the Countess of Loudoun around the remnants of a 15th century tower. The building was known as 'The Windsor of the North' until 1941 when it was gutted by a fire.
