Armadale Castle, Isle of Skye

Armadale Castle in Skye is the former home of the MacDonalds who . An early dwelling was built in 1690, however the castle was burned down in retaliation for the MacDonald's support of the Jacobites. The present castle was commissioned in 1815 for James Gillespie Graham to design, however, fire again damaged the castle and the central part of the building was rebuilt in 1850. The castle was abandoned in the 1920s and it fell into ruin.
