Oak Galls
Oak galls, also known as oak apple, is an abnormal growth caused
when a gall wasp lays eggs developing leaves. The abnormal
growth occurs when the eggs mature into larvae and secrete
chemicals, modifying the plant structure into a hard, woody
protective structure for the larvae.
