Letter from the KOSB Widows' and Orphans Advisory Council, James Byron Collection
Local soldier Corporal James Byron served with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers, and was awarded a military Medal for bravery. He was killed in action on 23 April 1945. Just two weeks later Germany surrendered.
This is a letter from the King's Own Scottish Borderers Widows' and Orphans Advisory Council to Mrs Mary Warwick, expressing deepest sympathy for the loss of her son. It also gives details of a contact at the council, should she require any advice in the future.
