Casket Ring

This gold casket ring c1550-1600 is from Larg Tower which once stood in Kirkcudbrightshire. It is engraved with a fleur de lys pattern which continues onto the oblong casket. The casket appears to be missing something, possibly a stone.   Giving and recieving rings was a long standing custom that became very popular during the 16th and 17th century.
