Portincross

Portincross Castle stands on the shore just a quarter of a mile from the place where a galleon of the Spanish Armada was wrecked in 1588. Glasgow born artist William Young had a keen interest in history and archaeology which is perhaps why he was drawn to painting this site. The castle also has associations with Robert the Bruce and the Boyd family.
