Soulis Street, Kilmarnock

MacKay's depiction of Soulis Street, named after the Soulis family, includes the modern Soulis Monument in its position next to the gates of the High Kirk.   MacKay came from an accomplished local family: His brother Alexander MacKay was also an artist, who specialised in portraits, and their brother David became Provost of the town.
