Ceremony of Laying Foundation Stone of Dick Library and Museum, Kilmarnock
The foundation stone of the Dick Institute was laid by Mrs Dick, wife of James Dick. The ceremony was obviously a grand occassion with many of the townspeople present. A stage and terraces have been brought in especially and the site is decorated with bunting.
Mr and Mrs Dick are seen to the right of the foundation stone, Mrs Dick is holding a large bouquet of flowers. Provost David MacKay is standing to the left of the stone and is apparently is either about to deliver a speach or has just done so.
