"Memorial Catalogue of the Burns Exhibition, 1896"

This is a presentation copy of the memorial catalogue for the Robert Burns centenary exhibition held in the galleries of the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts at 175 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow from July to October 1896.   The centenary of Robert Burns death on 21st July 1896 saw national celebrations to commemorate his life and achievements. The centenary exhibition held in Glasgow presented many relics of Robert Burns, his family and friends. The illustrated catalogue contains a list of the exhbits and inclusion in this is often taken as a guarantee of the authenticity of Burns related artefacts. Only 400 copies of this catalogue were published.   The catalogue has brown covers with gilt lettering on the front and spine and contains an extra title page, which bears the Burns Federation emblem and motto.
