John Wilson, Printer

John Wilson (1759-1821) printed the first edition of Burns' poems in Kilmarnock in 1786. His printing office was located on Waterloo Street in Kilmarnock.   Within the first edition Burns composed a mischevous epitaph to John Wilson:   "who'er thou art, O, reader, know That Death has murder'd Johnnie, And here his body lies fu' low - For soul he ne'er had ony."
