James Faed Junior was a landscape painter, best known for his scenes of heather and moorland, many of which were painted in the Galloway heartland. He spent much of his early years in the 1880s and 1890s painting in Galloway. Both James Faed Senior and his son exhibited pictures in the 1880s which resulted from time spent working in Cadzow Forest.   James Faed Junior first exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1876.
