Geometry of Fear

This touring exhibition is a not to be missed opportunity to see works from the Arts Council Collection by major British sculptors born between 1913 and 1930 who exhibited together in the 1952 Venice Biennale. It highlights the creativity of a prominent post-war generation of artists, such as Elizabeth Frink, Eduardo Paolozzi, Reg Butler, Lynn Chadwick, Leslie Thornton, Bernard Meadows, Peter King, John Hoskin and Kenneth Armitage. In addition, there are works by Graham Sutherland and Henry Moore. These artists broke away from the purity of form of Ben Nicholson, the large-scale works of Moore and the abstraction of Barbara Hepworth, to produce jagged, linear sculptures using welded metal, influenced by human and animal forms.
