Strands - the Story of Textiles in South West Scotland

Strands – the Story of Textiles in South West Scotland is showing at the Maclaurin Galleries from Saturday 30th June until Monday 27th of August.

The exhibition features artefacts from the collections of South, East and North Ayrshire Councils and Dumfries & Galloway Council, plus the Museum of Ayrshire Country Life & Costume, Dalgarven Mill.  Detached an exciting new commission by Emma McClintock, inspired by the Ayrshire Needlework tradition, brings the exhibition right up to date. Also showing is the interactive From Fibre to Fabric, which will go live on this web-site soon. In the meantime, it can only be viewed as part of the exhibition.

The exhibition will also visit - the Dick Institute, Kilmarnock (11th December 2007 - 16th February 2008), Dumfries Museum & Camera Obscura (15th March 2008 - 10th May 2008) and Stranraer Museum (8th June - 26th July 2008). Other venues to be confirmed.
