National Knitting Week at Dumfries Museum

Visitors can meet members of the Click Talk knitting and crochet group, enjoy some autumn refreshments and find out about the exciting projects they have been involved in over the past year, from knitting Elmer the elephant to baby booties. Discover the fun of sharing an interest and having a good blether.

Whatever age you are, you can have a go at knitting, even if you have never tried it before. Perhaps knit a blue square for the Wateraid awareness campaign or a cool “bunnet” for the innocent drinks Age Concern appeal. You can knit for fun, fashion or fundraisers

Click talk knitter jean English commented: “Absolutely everyone is welcome to come along to have a go at knitting or just to see what the Click Talk group have achieved in the past year. We would be especially delighted to hear from anyone interested in teaching knitting to school children. Last autumn members of the Click Talk group had a great time teaching children in Lochside and Lincluden primary schools. The girls and boys were fantastic and many of them went on to knit at home with their grandparents or taught their parents how to do it. To keep up with demand from the schools we really need more people willing to pass on this skill to the younger generation.”
