Tickets for Ayrshire's Youth Festival on Sale

The young people of Ayrshire were asked what they wanted more of and as a result Amplify 06 was born! It’s a brand new month long event taking place in various venues throughout October. It has been organised for young people and focuses on the street culture of today through music, dance and visual art.

The festival will feature a range of arts based events and activities including Unsigned - Battle of the Bands, a large scale graffiti art project, specially commissioned art exhibitions and high-quality break dance, hip hop and music related workshops for young people to name a few. There will also be an associated “mini-festival” called Stop the World I Want to Get Off with a numerous activities for young children.

On the final day of the festival the Palace Grand Hall plays host to a 12 hour non-stop music event; Gig in the Grand. This is being organised by DF Concerts; the promoters of T in the Park and King Tuts in Glasgow. The line up will be announced shortly and 1,000 tickets have been released for the event. It is sure to be extremely popular so early booking is recommended!

Amongst other exciting events, the Eyepoppers exhibition will run from 3rd October right through until 16th December at the Dick Gallery. Eyepoppers draws on some of Ayrshire’s collections and those of other museums in Scotland and it’s designed to make you think about the visual art world around you. Featured artists include Damien Hirst, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Goldsworthy along with a host of other renowned names and new commissions from young artists.

On Friday 13th October, a series of spooky and downright weird activities will take place at Dean Castle. The Tales of the Unexpected evening starts at 4.30pm and runs until 7.00pm. There will be entertainment for all in the Courtyard with juggling, fire-eating, stilt walking and strange drama manifestations from Mischief La Bas. Throughout the evening there will be a chance to go on a spooky storytelling tour to some of the eeriest parts of the castle.
