International Mini-prints Exhibition comes to Stranraer!

This is a chance for visitors to enjoy the very best in original printmaking using both traditional techniques and the latest digital technologies. The exhibition brings together 251 exciting small works and 11 more ‘usual’ sized pieces. Printmakers were set the challenge of creating prints no larger than 70 cm squared (for example, 7x10cm). But not all the prints are this optimum dimension and the images come in a variety shapes and sizes.

Small-scale printmaking is a real challenge for some artists and for others it is their preferred way of working. Either way, it was the quality of the imagery, the technical expertise and that certain indefinable special something which determined whether prints were selected for exhibition.

This is a truly international show, with contributions from as far afield as Canada, Brazil, Australia, USA, Japan and China. The UK is well represented with entries from every corner of the country.

The exhibition is being toured by Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries who have been organising this prestigious biennial exhibition since 2003. This is a chance to enjoy a huge range of subject matter and methods at the usual affordable price range, with prints priced from £20 - £100.

The exhibition opens at Stranraer Museum on 22 March and runs until 19 April. Admission is free.
