Thomas Telford at Stranraer Museum

The exhibition looks at Telford’s achievements and highlights some of his work in Dumfries and Galloway. Interesting local examples on display include a plan of the proposed harbour at Port Logan – then called Port Nessock – and a map of 1811 showing Telford’s plans for a road from Carlisle to Portpatrick. Also on display is a fascinating original plan of 1808 showing Telford’s design for new harbour works at Portpatrick.

The exhibition runs until 23 February and entry is free.
