Spiritual journeys to the ?next world? and the question of what happens when you die formed the basis of the beliefs and funeral practices of both the ancient Egyptians, and of the Bronze Age and Iron Age people living in the south-west of Scotland at the same time.

Cumnock 500 ? Schools coat-of-arms project

As part of the celebrations and events commemorating the 500th anniversary of Cumnock being made a Burgh of Barony in 1509, local schools lying in what was the original burgh boundary were invited to create a new coat-of arms.

'Chasing Sublime Light' by David Tress, is a Touring Exhibition by the West Wales Arts Centre
Supported by the Arts Council of Wales.
This touring exhibition features contemporary paintings and drawings created by David in response to journeys taken in the wilder landscapes of Cumbria, Northumberland, North Wales, North Yorkshire and the West of Scotland, inspired by the works of landscape artists of the Romantic period.
It runs at the Maclaurin Galleries from 1st May ? 13th June 2010.
