Small cup commemorating Inter-Allied Football Matches of 1941 - 1942

Wartime travel restrictions meant that League football ceased, to be replaced by matches between forces stationed in the area. A game was also organised between Queen of the South and the Norwegian visitors, who omitted to mention that nine members of their team had been in the Association Football Final in the Oslo Olympic Games. This was the first of many defeats for Queen of the South in the months to come.   Links between Norway and Dumfries continue today. There are many exchange visits, perhaps the most frequent of which are by Norwegian youth football teams, and visits to Norway by Greystone Rovers, a local club.
