The First World War

Compass

Description:

World War One British Army officer's dry compass.

Housed in a case similar to that of a pocket watch this compass has a magnetised dial card mounted on a sharp pivot to allow it to rotate freely. When the lid is closed, a small lever raises the needle from the pivot stopping any movement inside the case.
