Description:

These lead seals or Papal Bullae would have been fastened to church documents as a mark of authenticity.  Sinibaldo Fieschi was born in Genoa, son of the Count of Lavania, and died in Naples.  He was Pope during the years of 1244 - 1254, and spent the years 1244 - 1251 in Lyons.  This seal was found under some rocks beside the River Nith near Drumlanrig Castle, Durisdeer.
