Papal 'bulla' issued by Pope Honorius IV

Description:

This papal seal or 'bulla' authenticated documents sent from Rome to Christian churches across Europe.  The find site was near the medieval church at Buittle.

 

An irregular circular lead disc struck on both sides with the Pope's name on the obverse, and the heads of St Peter and St Paul on the reverse.
