Pendants like this were used during the Middle Ages to decorate horse harnesses. Some carried a specific heraldic design but the majority were purely decorative. Declared as Treasure Trove, this metal detector find has been allocated to Stranraer Museum.
A kite-shaped pendant with a broken suspension loop at the top end. One face is decorated with an incised diagonal cross filled with red enamel. There is a rectangular panel above. Both cross and panel are enclosed within a shield. The corners of the pendant have an incised foliate design.
