A gaming token or "jetton" made in Nuremberg, Germany by Hans Krauwinkel in the period 1580-1610.  These tokens are common finds on sixteenth century sites.

Cruggleton Castle is located on a cliff top overlooking Wigtown Bay.  It has been an important power base for thousands of years and excavation has shown that the site was occupied in the Iron Age, the Dark Ages and again in the Medieval period.  It was one of the centres of the Lords of Galloway.
