The Medieval Period (1100AD - 1499AD)

Castles

Dean Castle

Description:

Although this picture was taken during the restoration of the castle, the finished building looks quite different.  This picture must have been taken prior to the 1930's as by then work would have started on the gatehouse which eventually replaced the building connected to the curtain wall on the right-hand side of this image.  Also the small round turret on the left hand-side was unstable and was replaced by a square one.
