Medal won by George McHaffie of the Galloway Rifle Volunteers at the China Cup Challenge.

 

McHaffie, from Stranraer, was a crack shot and entered shooting contests throughout Britain.  The China Cup was a challenge trophy introduced in 1864 and was shot for at the Wimbledon meeting of the National Rifle Association.
