Cap badge surmounted by Queen's crown.  GRV stands for Galloway Rifle Volunteers.  ALBANICH, the motto of the Galloway Volunteers, was the war cry of the Gallovidian army in the Middle Ages.

 

The GRV recruited from Stranraer to Dumfries.
