Silver strip mount with interlace decoration. Cleaning of a
small portion of the strip revealed that it had originally been
gilded.
The shape suggests that the piece may have come from the top of a
knife sheath. However, if it has been distorted it may be a mount
from the rim of a small horn or cup, and would have been secured in
place by separate, rivetted strips. It is late 7th or early 8th
century in date.
